Enhanced E Editor - Ring Edit

Sponsored Link:

When editing several files in succession it is possible to go back and forth between them in a "ring". The arrows on the history line work almost like a browser would. Clicking on the left arrow goes one direction while the right arrow goes the opposite way.

Remember, this is a ring of files as opposed to the history that you are scrolling through so it won't act quite the same as a browser. In other words, when you select a file from the history list, your position in the ring of files will change to that files previous position in the ring. Going "back" will take you to the file that was previous to the file you are viewing in the ring as opposed to the last file you viewed.

It is possible to add, delete or adjust the order that the files in the ring are viewed by selecting the "Ring editor..." menu item from the "Tools" menu. The ring editor is rather simple and should be easy to use.

Your options are (from left to right in the dialog):

  • Add a file to the ring. Select a file from the file open dialog.
  • Add a complete directory listing to the ring. Select a file from the directory you wish to add in the file open dialog and the ring editor will load the complete directory listing.
  • Delete the highlighted file from the ring.
  • Delete all files from the ring. If any file is loaded at the time it will remain in the ring editor.
  • Move the highlighted file up in the listbox.
  • Move the highlighted file down in the listbox.
  • Close the ring editor without saving any changes.
  • Save any changes and close the ring editor.

Moving the highlighted file up or down in the ring listing will allow you to shift files into the order you prefer to view them in. You may also delete any file from the listing by pressing the DELETE key while it is highlighted.
