KidStreet software - The SideBar (menu)

The sidebar is not visible during normal running of KidStreet. To access the sidebar you must scroll your mouse to the right edge of the screen and it will scroll out automatically.

The SideBar has a number of selections including:

  • The Arrow - The right facing arrow scrolls the sidebar closed.
  • "Next Word" button - The "Next word" button chooses another word at random that is of the same length as the "Word length" spin button calls for.
  • Word Length - Sets the length of words that are entered in the main window. Choices range from 1 character to 15.
  • No Caps - When this is "on" the program will translate all uppercase letters to lower case. See customizing wordlists for more information. With both "No Caps" and "All Caps" unchecked, the program will display each word as it comes from the dictionary in mixed case. Proper nouns and acronyms may have upper case letters.
  • All Caps - When this is "on" the program will translate all lowercase letters to upper case. See customizing
wordlists for more information. With both "No Caps" and "All Caps" unchecked, the program will display each word as it comes from the dictionary in mixed case. Proper nouns and acronyms may have upper case letters.
  • Sound - Toggles the sound on or off.
  • Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide - Clicking one of these selections opens the FlashCards window in the chosen mode.
  • What Am I - Unimplemented but will open the view for a future part.
  • WordEdit - Opens the Word Editor for editing or customizing the wordlists.
